About us
About FNHA Counselling
FNHA Counselling is an independent private counselling practice offering online mental health counselling to adults in British Columbia, including eligible First Nations clients accessing care through the FNHA Mental Wellness and Counselling benefit. Our purpose is simple: make professional, respectful counselling easy to reach, wherever in the province you live.
Meet Mukesh Mishra, RCSW
Mukesh Mishra is a Registered Clinical Social Worker registered in both British Columbia and Alberta. He lives in Alberta and provides counselling online to clients throughout British Columbia, working with adults living with anxiety, depression, stress, anger, grief and loss, trauma-related difficulties, relationship strain, and the pressure that comes with major life change.
His counselling work is grounded in clinical social work practice: understanding a person within their whole context — family, community, history, culture, work, finances and health — rather than treating a symptom in isolation. Clients often describe the experience as being taken seriously without being judged.
All counselling is virtual. Sessions are delivered online across British Columbia by secure video or phone, so you can meet from home, from work on a break, or from anywhere you have a private space and a connection. Virtual counselling keeps care accessible for people in rural, remote and northern communities where in-person appointments can mean hours of travel, and it makes it easier to keep a consistent weekly or biweekly rhythm — the part of counselling that actually creates change.

My Counselling Approach
Counselling starts with listening. In early sessions the focus is on understanding what brought you here, what you are carrying, and what you would like to be different. From there we work collaboratively — building practical coping strategies, making sense of patterns, and setting goals that belong to you rather than to a treatment manual. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready, and no promise of a quick fix.
Culturally Respectful Care
Cultural safety is a practice, not a claim. It means asking rather than assuming, recognizing the ongoing effects of colonization, residential schools and intergenerational trauma on families and communities, and respecting the role that culture, land, family and community may play in your wellness. You decide how much of that belongs in your counselling, and your choices are respected.
Trauma-Informed & Client-Centred Support
A trauma-informed approach prioritizes safety, choice and stability. Rather than pushing you to revisit painful events, the work begins with grounding and coping skills, so that difficult material is only approached when you feel steady enough. You set the pace, and you can pause at any time.
Online Counselling Across BC
Sessions are available to clients throughout British Columbia — from Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby and Richmond to Victoria, Nanaimo, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George and smaller and remote communities. You need a private space and an internet connection or phone line; everything else we arrange together.
